They formed on an outwash plain from a loamy mantle and the underlying sandy and gravelly glacial outwash. The Garne soils are in the uncultivated field that runs from the foreground to the background. They formed on hills in bedrock controlled uplands from reworked (by wind or water, or both) sandy outwash and in loamy residuum from the underlying glauconitic sandstone.
