The soil map unit in this landscape is "Namur-Ruse soils, very shallow complex, 0 to 2 percent slopes, very rocky, very stony". Two soils with bedrock within 25 centimeters (10 inches) of the surface occur in a intricate pattern. As much as three percent of the surface is exposed bedrock. An additional 0.1 to 3.0 percent of the surface is covered by stones.
